Smeraglia bred the world’s first English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles in 1999, after breeding English Golden Retrievers since 1993. Our Extra Small and Small puppies carry the same temperament-tested, allergy-friendly line as every dog we place — in a size built for smaller homes and laps.

Our story
It started with the world’s first litter of English Goldendoodles, and our family has been perfecting the small, huggable version of that teddy bear look ever since. A Smeraglia mini is an English Teddy Bear Goldendoodle in a smaller package — the same soft, loose-wavy coat, gentle people-first temperament and health-tested parents, sized for laps, apartments and travel. Every one is raised on our farm in Robertsdale, Alabama, and loved on daily by our family and team.
“Mini” means different things at different breeders, so here is exactly how we size ours. Small is the closest to what most families call a mini; Extra Small is our smallest — what others may call Petite or Toy.

Want a head start?
Add our on-site Doodle Prep School and your mini comes home already working on crate training, potty training, leash manners and confidence in new places. Programs run from 1 to 16 weeks at $875 per week — including advanced tracks for therapy and service work. It’s the difference between bringing home a puppy and bringing home a puppy with a diploma.
Our Small, Medium and Large Goldendoodle and Twoodle puppies start at $3,995, and Extra Small at $5,095 — breeding healthy extra smalls takes extra care and time. Every puppy comes home with our 2-year health guarantee, health- and DNA-tested parents, and a family who will still pick up the phone for you long after Gotcha Day — including lifetime rehome support, always. Prep School training and delivery are priced separately.

Gentleness with people is one of the traits we specifically breed and test for. Because every puppy is temperament-tested at seven weeks, we can match your family with a puppy whose energy suits your household, whether that includes toddlers, teenagers, or a bossy older cat.

It’s rare to see our Small minis on the Available Puppies page for long because of their popularity, and because we breed fewer Extra-Small litters, that waitlist can be a bit longer. When a litter is born, the puppies are first offered to matching families on our waiting list before they go on the Available Puppies page. Keep watching that page too — a puppy may touch your heart that is different from your specifications.
Your application comes with a $295 deposit ($305.33 when paid by card), which is non-refundable and applied to the total purchase price of your puppy. We then talk by phone about your family and your wish list, and once temperament testing is complete at seven weeks, we match you with your puppy. If the right puppy isn’t here yet, you’re placed on our waiting list until the expected litter is born.
