The complete guide
An English Goldendoodle is a Goldendoodle bred from the English (European-line) Golden Retriever rather than the American line. We’ve bred English Golden Retrievers since 1993 and English Goldendoodles since 1999. This is the breed as we know it, written down in one place.

The difference
Both start with a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. The difference is which Golden Retriever. The English line was bred to a different standard, and the puppies show it.
| English Goldendoodle | American Goldendoodle | |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Retriever line | English (European) Golden Retriever | American Golden Retriever |
| Coat color | Typically cream to light gold | Typically gold to deep red |
| Build | Stockier, broader head, the “teddy bear” look | Leaner, longer muzzle |

Temperament
Smart, people-focused and eager to please: the Golden Retriever’s gentleness with the Poodle’s trainability. That’s why so many of ours go on to be therapy and service dogs.
Sizes
Full-grown weight is the honest way to pick a size. Each size links to its puppies.
Coat & colors
A loose-wavy to curly coat, about two to three inches long, is the signature. Colors run from ultra cream and champagne through apricot and red, with parti and rare colors in some litters.
Health
Every parent is health-tested before breeding, and every puppy goes home with a health guarantee. This is the short version.

FAQ
No dog is completely allergy-free, but English Goldendoodles have low-shedding coats that many allergy-sensitive families find easier to live with. Our T-shirt allergy test lets your family check its reaction at home first.
It depends on the size you choose: Extra Small (about 12–22 lb), Small (18–35 lb), Medium (35–55 lb) or Large (55–85+ lb), the size many call Standard.
“Teddy Bear” describes the English Goldendoodle’s look: a stockier build, a boxier head, soulful round eyes and a plush coat. The very first “Teddy Bear” English Goldendoodles were bred by Smeraglia, here in Alabama.
