Questions families ask

How do you match puppies with families?

Every puppy is temperament-tested at seven weeks, and that test is the main factor in deciding which puppy is best for your family. You can tell us your first and second choice from the litter photos, and we include you in the process, but the final match is based on the temperament test.

Why do the puppies have names like โ€œGracie Pinkโ€?

Within minutes of birth every puppy is weighed and given a color-coded collar: blue, green or orange for boys, and pink, red or white for girls, with dots or stripes when a litter is large. We call each puppy by its momโ€™s name and its color until its family names it.

When can my puppy go home?

Medium and Large puppies can be picked up or start Doodle Prep School at 9 weeks old, Small puppies at 10 weeks, and Extra Small puppies at 12 weeks. A puppy that is delivered must weigh over 5 pounds.

Is there a health guarantee?

Yes. A licensed veterinarian examines every puppy before it leaves us, and each one comes with our 2-year health guarantee. It covers hip and elbow dysplasia and congenital heart defects up to two years of age, and any untreatable condition your own vet finds at the check-up we ask you to schedule within three business days of your puppyโ€™s arrival. To make a claim, send us your vetโ€™s written diagnosis, or a PennHIP evaluation for dysplasia, within three to five business days; the exact deadline for each is in the Contract & Health Warranty in your application. For a heart defect or a condition found at that first check-up, once your puppy comes back to us, we provide a replacement puppy. The guarantee asks you to keep your puppy at a healthy weight, have them spayed or neutered by seven months, and come to us first if you ever need to rehome: your doodle always has a place with us.

Are your puppies allergy-friendly?

Their low-to-non-shedding coats are among the most allergy-friendly youโ€™ll find, one of the biggest reasons allergy-sensitive families choose them. Every dog and every allergy is unique, so weโ€™ll never make medical promises โ€” our T-shirt allergy test lets your family check at home before you adopt.

What happens after I apply?

We talk by phone about your family and your wish list, and once temperament testing is complete at seven weeks, we match you with your puppy. If the right puppy isnโ€™t here yet, youโ€™re placed on our waiting list until the expected litter is born.

Do your puppies have microchips?

Yes. Every puppy has an AKC Reunite microchip. Register it once your puppy is home, so a lost dog can be traced back to you quickly.
