And Why We Believe Some of Ours May Be Called to It
There are moments in this journey where something doesn’t just catch your attention…
it awakens something in you.
This is one of those moments.
Recently, I began studying the science behind dogs detecting cancer—and I can honestly say, it is one of the most incredible and eye-opening things I have ever come across.
Not just stories.
Not just instincts.
But real science… with extraordinary results.
🧬 The Science Is Real
Researchers have discovered that cancer produces a unique scent—tiny chemical compounds released through breath, blood, urine, and saliva.
Humans cannot detect it.
But dogs can.
And not just at a basic level—they can detect these compounds at parts per trillion.
Even more incredible…
When properly trained, dogs are detecting cancer with remarkably high accuracy, sometimes even in its earliest stages.
This is not experimental curiosity anymore.
This is proven capability.
🐶 What We Have Already Seen
As Charles and I have studied this, we’ve had some very intentional conversations.
Because the truth is…
we have already identified puppies in our program that show a high level of scent detection ability.
This isn’t something we’re guessing at.
It’s something we’ve observed over time.
Certain puppies stand out—
* heightened awareness
* strong scent engagement
* focus and drive
And now, we are looking at those traits through a completely different lens.

He is highly trained, certified, and experienced in evaluating dogs—not just for behavior, but for working potential and ability.

We are not looking to replace or replicate the incredible organizations already doing this work.

Our role would be to:
* identify top scent-driven puppies
* evaluate early traits and potential
* help place those puppies into the right hands for advanced training
Because the reality is…
these organizations need dogs with the right foundation.
And that’s something we know how to provide.

What has impacted me the most is not just that dogs can do this…
It’s how exceptionally well they are doing it.
This is not average performance.
This is:

✔ life-impacting
And it opens the door to something much bigger than we ever imagined.

The more I sit with this, the more I believe:
God is intentional in everything He creates.
And when you look at a dog—
their loyalty

their extraordinary sense of smell
…it feels like design with purpose.
Not just for companionship.
But possibly…
for something life-saving.
