Today was one of those days that changes you.
This morning, I had the privilege of visiting Saraland Elementary School alongside Charles, our Chief Training Officer, and Fletcher—our steady, faithful ambassador. We also brought along one very special puppy, JAX.

JAX was born on July 25, 2025, and has just completed our 16-week Super Puppy Program. He’s at such a beautiful stage—eager, responsive, and full of potential. Today, he stepped into something bigger than training. He stepped into purpose.
We were invited into a classroom as part of a program called PAWTISM Project—a beautiful play on words, but even more, a beautiful mission. This initiative, led by a remarkable educator named Scott, serves children with a wide range of abilities, including many on the autism spectrum. Some of these children communicate verbally, others are still finding their voice—and all of them are uniquely and wonderfully made.
From the moment we walked in, something special happened.
Fletcher.
The way the children lit up when they saw him… I don’t even have words for it. There was recognition, excitement, comfort. You could feel it. Fletcher wasn’t just a dog walking into the room—he was a familiar friend, a source of safety, and in many ways, a quiet hero.
What moved me deeply was hearing that for some children, one of their very first spoken words was “dog.”
Think about that.
A dog… helped unlock language.
A dog… created connection.
A dog… opened a door.
Gentle Moments That Speak Loudly
There were moments today that I will carry with me forever.
Children gathered around Fletcher, reaching out in their own ways—some gently, some with excitement, some still learning how to express touch and interaction. And Fletcher… just received them.
He rolled onto his back in complete trust.

He remained calm, patient, and steady—even when the environment was full of energy, movement, and unpredictability.
That’s not something you can teach overnight. That’s purpose. That’s calling. That’s what these dogs are made for.
And watching JAX observe all of this… it was like watching the next generation begin to understand why they exist.

A Bridge Between Classrooms
One of the most eye-opening parts of today was learning about what Scott calls Project Outreach.
The heart behind it is simple—but profound.
It’s about bridging the gap between children in specialized classrooms and those in traditional classrooms.
Because often, it’s not that children don’t care about each other—it’s that they don’t know how to connect.
But then… in walks a dog.
When a child from the PAWTISM program walks Fletcher down the hallway, something incredible happens. Other students are drawn in. Conversations begin. Smiles are exchanged. Walls come down.
Fletcher becomes the bridge.
He creates a space where differences don’t divide—they connect.
And I stood there today watching that happen, realizing… this is so much bigger than what we’ve been doing.
Including Everyone in the Conversation
We also spent time in a fourth-grade classroom, talking about service dogs—what they do, how they help, and why they matter.
The students asked thoughtful, curious questions, and it meant so much to include them in the experience. Because this mission isn’t just about serving one group—it’s about bringing everyone together in understanding, compassion, and awareness.
No one is left out.
A Renewed Vision
I left today with something new in my heart.
Or maybe… something deeper.
We’ve always believed in the power of these dogs—whether as service dogs, emotional support companions, or life-changing partners for families.
But today showed me something else:
What about the children who don’t have access to a dog of their own?
What about the classrooms?
What about the schools?
What if… we could bring a dog into every one of them?
Scott shared his dream of seeing a dog in every school across Alabama—and beyond. And standing there today, watching what I witnessed…
I believe it’s possible.
I believe it’s necessary.
And I believe we are called to be a part of it.

More Than a Visit
This wasn’t just a visit.
It was a glimpse into what could be.
It was laughter, connection, patience, growth, and love—all wrapped up in four paws and a wagging tail.
I captured so much of today on video, and I can’t wait to share more of those moments with you. But I wanted to start here…
With the story.
With the heart.
With the reminder that sometimes, the simplest things—a dog, a touch, a moment—can change everything.
With love,
Sherri
