Every morning, before my day truly begins, I take a moment to pray. I pray for our puppies, for their health, for their little personalities as they grow — and I pray for the families who are meant to love them. I ask God to bring the right family to the right puppy, in His timing and by His hand. Because while we have an incredible team and many systems in place, I know deep down that only God can truly make those connections. And He does — every single day.
That’s one of the most beautiful parts of what we do here at Smeraglia. We may raise the puppies, train them, and prepare them — but God is the one writing the stories. I’ve watched Him do it over and over again — families who didn’t even plan to get a puppy suddenly finding “the one,” or a puppy with a certain temperament ending up with a family who needed that exact kind of love. There’s no algorithm or marketing plan that could make that happen. That’s just God.
Running this company has been one of the greatest joys of my life, but it’s also required a lot of faith and perseverance. People often see the fun side — the wagging tails, the photoshoots, the happy families on Gotcha Day — and all of that is real. But behind it is a whole lot of prayer, planning, and daily dependence on God.
Over the years, I’ve learned that being an entrepreneur means learning to walk a tightrope of vision and faith. I love dreaming, creating, and finding new ways to share the joy these dogs bring. But I also know I can’t do it alone. I’m so thankful for the incredible people God has placed around me — my children, our staff, and the many hands that make this company what it is today.
I may not personally speak with every client anymore, but I do still carry each one in prayer. And I trust that the people God has placed in our company — those who answer the phones, send the emails, greet our guests, and care for the puppies — carry that same heart. Because what we do isn’t just business. It’s ministry. It’s about connecting people with something that brings healing, comfort, and joy — and trusting that every match is divinely orchestrated.
These last few years have brought their share of challenges. Costs have gone up, the world has changed, and some days it feels like we’re all just trying to keep up. But through it all, I’ve seen God’s faithfulness again and again. He always provides. He always sustains.
One of our family’s life verses is Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” That truth has carried me through every season of life — as a wife, a mom, a grandmother, and a business owner.
Every day, I have a choice — to give in to fear or to lean into faith. And I’ll be honest, fear still tries to visit. The “what ifs” still show up. But faith always wins when I remember who holds the future. God’s mercies are new every morning. His grace is enough for today. And He’s the same faithful provider who fed the Israelites in the wilderness and promised rest to His people — a God who never stops providing for those who trust Him.
So today, as I look at our puppies, our team, and the families waiting to meet their new best friends, I’m choosing faith. I’m trusting God to continue writing stories through this work — stories of love, joy, healing, and connection.
If you’re in a season of uncertainty — maybe you’re waiting on provision, direction, or healing — I hope this reminds you that God sees you. He cares about you. And He’s already working things out behind the scenes.
Let’s all choose faith today. Let’s believe that God’s best is still ahead — for our families, our work, and our hearts. ✨🐾
