English Goldendoodle Generations:

F1 English Goldendoodle

The first generation (F1) Goldendoodle is the product of a Poodle crossed with an English Golden Retriever which = 50% English Golden Retriever & 50% Poodle.

Most first generation Goldendoodles shed lightly, Some can have moderate shedding. F1 Goldendoodles are compatible for most families with MILD allergies. Most F1 Goldendoodles will have an ultra cream plush, straight to loose wavy coat. Occasionally, an F1 breeding will produce a more curly coat.

F1 English Goldendoodles come in two sizes: Please note these are approximate weights, we do not guarantee weights or heights.

Photos below are examples of a F1 English Goldendoodle.

F1B English Goldendoodle:

The backcross (F1B) Goldendoodle is produced by crossing a F1 Goldendoodle with a Poodle which = 75% Poodle & 25% English Golden Retriever

F1B Goldendoodles are 99% non-shedding, and are recommended for families with moderate to severe allergies.

F1B's can have a variety of coat types including, loose wavy, straight & curly.

F1B's can have a variety of coat colors, Ultra Cream, Apricots, Champagne, Red, and many other color variations. Please refer to our color variety page to see examples of these colors.

F1B English Goldendoodles come in all three sizes: Please note these are approximate weights, we do not guarantee weights or heights.

Photos below are examples of the different coat types you can get with a F1B

F2 English Goldendoodle

The Second Generation (F2) Goldendoodle is produced by crossing a F1 Goldendoodle with a F1 Goldendoodle = 50% English Golden Retriever & 50% Poodle.

Originally , Goldendoodle breeders believed that the F2 breeding would produce the most consistent “Teddy Bear Look”, but in my personal experience this has NOT proven to be true. I have found that we DO get very beautiful plush coated Teddy Bear Goldendoodles from a F2 breeding, but also can get very straight coated more sporty Golden Retriever like Goldendoodles with less shedding. They mostly all cream to golden colored.

F2 English Goldendoodles come in two sizes: Please note these are approximate weights, we do not guarantee weights or heights.

  • Medium –  Approximately 35-50 pounds
  • Large/Standard  - Approximately 55+ pounds

F2B English Goldendoodle

The Second Generation backcross Goldendoodle (F2B) is produced by crossing the F1 Goldendoodle with a F1B Goldendoodle.

They also have a good success rate for non-shedding than a F1 & F2 breeding and are recommended for families with moderate to severe allergies. Many families desire this breeding because it has a little more Golden Retriever than the F1B, most are low to non-shedders.

Occasionally, a F2B breeding will produce a Goldendoodle with a Golden Retriever look, this look in the F2B generation has proved to be low to moderate shedding.

F2B's can have a variety of coat types including, loose wavy, straight & curly. As an experienced breeder we can identify the shedders from the non-shedders.

F2B's like the F1B's can have a variety of coat colors, Ultra Cream, Apricots, Champagne, Red, and many other color variations. Please refer to our color variety page to see examples of these colors.

F2B English Goldendoodles come in three sizes: Please note these are approximate weights, we do not guarantee weights or heights.

  • Small - Approximately 15-30 pounds
  • Medium – Approximately 30-50 pounds
  • Large "Standard" - Approximately 55+ pounds (We have not bred an F2B Standard)
