Here At Smeraglia Kennel, we realize that while very exciting, bringing a new puppy into your home can be a
frustrating, life-interrupting event. With the new information now available about canine behavioral
development, we know that the first few days, weeks, and months of your puppy's life are critical for his
happy and healthy development, as well as a lifetime of harmony in your home.
The puppy prep school program was developed exclusively for our special TeddyBearGoldendoodle &
TeddyBearSchnoodle puppies, 20 weeks and under.
Our program is very different than most other puppy training programs because our focus is on preventing
undesirable behaviors from become habit while developing desired behaviors in the appropriate way for each
individual during key developmental stages to insure behavioral soundness for the companion (family) animal that
is functional in a real world setting.
The program consists of at least 2 weeks, with a minimum of 3 weeks of boarding in a real home environment,
complete with young children, a police K9 trainer husband and training done by a Certified examiner for the
AKC'C CGC program and the Delta Society Pet Partners program, in addition to numerous other professional
group affiliations and endorsements. During this time, your puppy will be given, round-the-clock care while
receiving daily training, custom tailored to your individual situation and needs, in the following areas:
Basic Household manners:
House training: individualized to owner lifestyle and tailored to puppy strengths and weaknesses to either pads,
litter, or outside (using a bell on the door). Puppies will be at or beyond appropriate level for their age and
you will receive instructions to make continuation of success very simple.
Crate training: teaching puppy to settle quietly alone in his crate
Handling skills: to teach puppies to be accepting of the handling interactions that they will receive throughout
their lives.
Elimination/reduction/redirection of nuisance and destructive behaviors: common puppy behaviors such as,
jumping up on people, mouthiness ( puppy nipping in play), chewing on inappropriate objects, barking, digging, and
any other behavior that may exist are eliminated or controlled based on both you and your puppy's individual
needs.

Loose leash walking
Touch (also called target training)
During Puppy Prep School your pup will receive the very personal, individualized attention they need for quick,
easy success at this age.
Puppy Prep School is the perfect choice for working families, busy professionals, or anyone wanting to give their

Total cost is $1000, and includes:
*Current Vaccinations while puppy is at Prep School
* Educational materials Puppy Comes home with a Puppy Prep School packet which includes: an instructional
DVD starring your own puppy, written house training schedule, written instructions on all exercises taught,
written instructions on prevention of bad habits, the collar/harness and leash your puppy used while in training,
a bell (if your puppy is trained to outside).
* Phone Calls with the trainer are limited to one consultation before you puppy comes home and one consultation
once the puppy has arrive home, to give you the information you need to continue training once your puppy
returns home; the most important and essential part of the program.
PLEASE NOTE:
Unlike other programs that sequester pups in kennels for only an hour or two of hands-on training a day,
puppies in our program live in a home environment, are handled constantly, and receive training throughout the
day.

owners must be prepared to adhere to the continuing training instructions given in the hand-over visit or
consultation.
