As many people realize the Giant Teddy Bear Schnoodle is a more rare schnoodle, we have been raising Miniature Teddy Bear Schnoodles
for years, but only produced our first litter of Giant Schnoodles in 2003. The Schnoodle is most popular because of their
wonderful
temperament
, they are 100% non-shedding and they are hypo-allergenic, for some families this is one of the only breeds they can tolerate
due to severe allergies.

We are accepting applications for Giant Schnoodles now!!

The Giant Teddy Bear Schnoodle is produced by breeding our Giant Schnauzer females to our Standard Poodle Males. This produces a
Giant Schnoodle that will weight approximately 65-80lbs at maturity; they average around 70lbs. Height at the withers: Males, 25½ to
27½ inches; Females, 23½ to 25½ inches.

The Giant Schnauzer is a separate breed from the Miniature and Standard. Their country of origin is Germany. Breeds were developed for
specific work in the 1600's; this breed was developed to be used as drovers of sheep and cattle and as a guard dog. Its coat was also
influenced by weather and living conditions. Some of the breeds which were used in the development were the Standard Schnauzer, Great
Dane, rough-haired sheep dogs and possibly the Bouvier des Flandres. The breed was not that well known until World War I when it was
used for police training.
The Giant Schnauzer is a larger more powerful version of, but should resemble, the smaller, Standard Schnauzer. Nearly a square built dog
in proportion of body length to height at withers. Ruggedly built, with a dense, weather-resistant coat. Usually salt and pepper in color or
black.

When you combine the Giant Schnauzer and the Standard Poodle you have a very composed, easily trained dog, highly intelligent, with a
sound reliable temperament, who is courageous, loves human companionship, is deeply loyal to the family, and will be extremely affectionate
with children. They are focused, and laid back, very sweet, and at times can be silly, they seem to be very happy and content. They do need
human companionship, they will not do well to left to themselves, they require daily interaction with their family, they love walks and playing
games, they are extremely fond of frisbees. As you talk to them and let them know what you expect from them, you will find that you have
one of the most wonderful dogs you could ever get. They require moderate grooming. Their coat will vary in texture but it is typically a silky
wavy coat with  soft curls.  Our most common color is black but we did have the world first litter of cream colored Giant Schnoodles. They
are definitely water dogs, they love the snow, and do well most any climate.

If you are interested in adopting a Giant Teddy Bear Schnoodle from Smeraglia Kennel, we require that you send in a signed contract along
with a $200 non-refundable deposit. You will then be added to our waiting. Due to the high demand of this rare breed there could a 4-12
month wait.
We cannot guarantee color; we prefer that our applicants not be as focused on color as the breed itself, which was based on it's incredible
temperament and hypo-allergenic, non-shedding qualities

Giant Schnoodles come in Black and Cream, black is our most common color, but it is easier for you to see their features on the creams, the
blacks are absolutely gorgeous but most people cannot take good pictures of a black dog, it's very hard, you have to really know how to do
it. Sea biscuit has a beautiful boxy Teddy Bear Face, he is a perfect example of what a Giant "Teddy Bear" Schnoodle looks like.

I am planning a litter of Standard Schnoodles which I am very excited about, we plan on breeding our Standard Poodle to our miniature
Schnazuer, which should produce a 25-35 Schnoodle. I will let you know when the breeding takes place.
